Kassi Leadership Academy

What is it?

A program to help students K-12 build skills in educational achievement, personal development, and leadership. Kassi means “thread” in Swahili, and the Academy exposes participants to people and places that broaden their scope of possibilities for the future. The goal is to develop children into leaders within their homes, schools, and communities.

Who can participate?

All students K-12.

What services are provided?

The Kassi Leadership Academy focuses on providing services to help participants become future leaders, including:

  • Academic support
  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring
  • Social development opportunities
  • Community projects
  • Childcare services
  • Leadership Clubs

 

What does it cost?

Free.

What’s the schedule?

The program runs year-round. There are four one-hour sessions per week after school.

What’s needed to get started?

Students must complete an application.

Kassi uses a merit badge system to celebrate leadership benchmarks for every child.  Kassi Leadership clubs include: Mock Record Label, Hip Hop on L.O.C.K., Fashion, Dance, Kassi Cooks, Chess Team, Fitness All-Stars, Hair & Beauty Club, Art Club, Creative Writing Club.
